    Questions

Where does this list come from?

From Edward Dolch's "A Basic Sight Word Vocabulary" (1936), the most used sight-word list in English-speaking schools. Copies online differ by a word or two; we use the common 220 service words plus 95 nouns.

    How many words a week?

About 10, which is why the list is split into 10 weeks. Move faster if your child already reads some of them; the point is recognising each word at a glance.

    Can I change the words?

Yes. Edit the box in the worksheet maker before you download, or edit the list after opening bingo, flashcards, word search or tracing.

    Is it free?

Yes, with answer keys, no sign-up and no watermark.
