Makefern

Colors: picture vocabulary

Ten colors as paint splashes, with no objects to distract from the color itself. A first topic for very young learners.

Words

On the back of the flashcards and in the bingo caller list.

Free, no sign-up, no watermark. The pictures were drawn for Makefern; print them for your class as often as you like.

Flashcards

Picture bingo

3×3 cards with a free middle square, plus a caller list.

Worksheet

A classroom idea

Call “Touch something blue!” and the children find it in the room, then hold up the card.

One topic, one lesson

  1. Warm-up with the flashcards: show the picture, the class says the word, then turn the card over.
  2. Listen with picture bingo: call the word, and the learners find the picture.
  3. Finish with the worksheet: match each picture to its word, or write the word under it.

Questions

Where do the pictures come from?

We drew them for Makefern: simple, clear pictures that print well in color or black and white. Print them for your own classes as often as you like.

Which languages can I add?

Spanish, Brazilian and European Portuguese, French, German, Indonesian, Arabic and Hindi. The translation goes on the back of each flashcard and next to each word in the bingo caller list, so learners can check the meaning.

Can I use fewer words?

Yes. Untick any word above before you download; flashcards and worksheets work from 2 words, bingo from 8.

Is it free?

Yes: flashcards, bingo cards and worksheets with an answer key, no sign-up and no watermark.
